Ace the Raven
Unreleased: " All the Nothing " - Full-length album recorded in 2009. Like the "Fortress of Apathy" album before it, the songs were written throughout Ace's entire career. 1. (See Your) Transgression 2. Hell Is Above 3. (We Are The) Revolution 4. Last Sunrise 5. All the Nothing (re-named cover of Nitefall 's "Cascading Days") 6. Am I Alive? 7. Island of Courage... Sea of Despair ( Nitefall cover) 8. Righteous Indignation 9. The Secret (Non Omnis Moriar) 10. Dawn of Infinity (Initio Infinitum) ( Nitefall cover) 11. A Prison Without Walls " Shadow of Hate - March 2003 re-recording of the 1997 demo song, with a new ending segment that reuses from the main riff of "Hell is Above" Much higher production values and longer then the 1997 version. The only completed song from this 2002-2005 era not included on the "Fortress of Apathy" album or a separate single. Omitted from the 2009 album because "Hell is Above" is featured there and this recording reused its main riff for its ending. " Am I Alive? " - 1 song demo recorded on a 4-Track, 1988. The very first Ace the Raven solo recording. " 8-Track Demo '94 " - January 1994. 4 songs, including "Righteous Indignation" and 3 untitled instrumentals. 21 minutes. Heavy/Power Metal. " 4-Track Demo (Remix) - Spring 1993 " - 7 song instrumental demo, recorded then remixed in Spring 1993. Mostly Doom Metal, Heavy Metal, and some Psych/Hard Rock (including a 16-minute instrumental). 57 minutes. 4-Track Demo - February 1994 - 2 song instrumental demo. 11 minutes. Heavy/Doom Metal. Including one untitled song that was written and first played with Nitefall in Summer 1993. The Nitefall version had lyrics, while this version is instrumental and has additional lead work the original didn't have. " Evil Be Thy Name " - 1-song demo, recorded in November 1998. Death Metal. " Stars Bequeath The Sun " - 2-song demo, 2 different versions of the song, recorded in December 1995. - Also recorded 46 other unreleased demos between 1989 and 2001. Including numerous other different recordings of songs that were released in other versions, early versions of future Cardavercus songs, solo recordings of past Renken and Nitefall songs, and almost 200 completed instrumental songs that were never titled. Almost every song on the "Fortress of Apathy" album has a different style then the last. Styles vary from Death Metal and Thrash to Traditional and Power Metal, sometimes even switching styles in the same song. Most of the material on the album was originally written throughout Ace's entire solo career, some songs dating back to 1997 ("Blinded", "The Promise"), 1998 ("Evil Be Thy Name", "New World Slaughter", "Threshold"), 2000 ("Midnight's Dark Caress", "Past The Sea of Aral"), 2004 ("Island of Courage II", "The Answer"), etc. "Blinded" was released on a 3-song cassette demo of the same name in 1997, under Ace's previous band name Project Raven, alongside the song "The Dark Plan" and a sample/preview clip of another song "Immune". These songs were planned to be part of a full-length cassette that was completed in 1997, but the foundation a new Renken lineup that would soon evolve into Cardavercus led to the album being shelved, and it ended up never released. Ace would later bring the songs "Cold Vengeance" (which Ace had yet titled, and was later named by Renken), "Blinded!", "The Secret (Non Onmis Moriar)", "Immune", "Life Will Decay", "The Unseen", "The Dark Plan" and "Free" to Renken/Cardavercus, which they played frequently (except for "Free" which they played without vocals, and soon dropped for being stylistically different from their other material). One song Ace wrote while with Cardavercus, "Threshold" would later be brought back to the Ace The Raven project. The band Renken , which had over 15 original songs (many of which would later become Cardavercus songs) had a song called "A Good Day for an Exorcism". The middle section of this song would later be reused by Ace and become the middle section of "A Prison Without Walls", the last song he ever recorded, and the only song on his unreleased 2009 "All The Nothing" album to include Death Metal vocals. The 2005 song from the CD single "The Change" is one of a few Ace The Raven songs that date back as far as late 1991, originally performed in rehearsals with Nitefall , although with Nitefall this song was called "Galen's Story". After the final Nitefall rehearsal at the end of April 1994 Ace began working on finishing the newest Nitefall material on his own, hence several Ace solo songs were originally Nitefall songs, including Ace's unreleased songs from multiple '90s re-recordings "Dawn of Infinity (Initio Infinitum)", "Island of Courage... Sea of Despair", and "Galen's Story". The first two were then released in 2001 on "The Savage Nomads" album. The song off Fortress of Apathy entitled "Island of Courage II" is a sequel of the Nitefall song, a revisitation of the original concept, with new lyrics and music. Ace later covered two of these Nitefall songs on his 2009 unreleased album. Almost all of these early-to-mid '90s and 2009 Nitefall covers remain unreleased, only the two on "The Savage Nomads" album and "The Change" single were ever put out. Ace had numerous other unreleased songs aside from the albums and demos listed above, spanning from 1989 onward. Many 4-track and 8-track demos over the years were completed, but remain unreleased, such as "Hell Is Above", "I Saw The Light" "Betrayed By Fear", "Am I Alive?", "I Cannot Feel", "Doomed Blues", "Forever's A Long Time", "What I Am", "The Tomb of Death", "I'll Be There", "Life's Destiny", "Would You?" as well as nearly 200 completed untitled instrumental songs spanning 47 unreleased demos (all of these recorded from 1989-2001). These are aside from the comparably few 4-track and 8-track demos that he did release and distribute, although all are very obscure, such as his very first solo release from December 1989, predated only by a 1-song 4-track demo song "Am I Alive?" from 1988 which was never released. Ace retired from music and put this project to rest in 2010 due to health problems, after releasing one final CD single in 2009. The single was taken from a completed full-length album, but Ace put the project to rest without releasing this 11 song album.
