Alterrik

Formed by brothers Mike and Matt Sorg in 1987, Alterrik split up when Matt Sorg and Rob Newlin were recruited together into Blood of Christ . In October 1989 Alterrik gained some significant local notoriety (despite having not played live in Cleveland yet, but played frequently in Akron with Brainicide and Silent Knight ) when their " Ill-Minded " demo was given a very positive review in Cleveland-area Metal zine Heavy Metal Demolition (Issue #26), and their name was even featured on the front cover alongside Coven 6669 , Nightcrawler , Under Siege and Powermad (Alterrik was even featured at the top of the list of bands, listed first). The cover also featured Halloween-themed artwork drawn by Screamer of Absolute Zero . Alterrik was very often associated with fellow Akron Metallers Brainicide . They very often played together in Akron and elsewhere, and their "Ill-Minded" demo was even promoted in Brainicide's own monthly newsletter The Brainicide Bulletin. That issue stated "Alterrik has released Ill-Minded, a VERY good demo! Buy it!!!" before listing the address and price. An earlier issue of the Brainicide Bulletin listed Alterrik as Brainicide's second favorite band to play live with, the top spot going to Silent Knight and third spot going to Hemlock . After the 1990 split of Brainicide, Brainicide founder Steve Trent joined Alterrik near the end of the year, and recorded on their 4th and final demo before their 1991 breakup.
