Anti-Ke

Formed in the late '80s as Acete , sometimes spelled Act or A C T . Under that name, they recorded a demo in Iserlonh (Germany) entitled Anti-ké , in February, 1991. The demo was never distributed and the band changed their name shortly after. On September 28th, 1994, when Lejos de su realidad had been distributed for over 2 years, the Ertzaintza (Basque police) raided the occupied Laudio paint factory and seized 83 copies of it. The raid marked the beginning of a significant legal process. The police claimed to have found materials for making Molotov cocktails and small explosives, illegal drugs, and tapes with anti-police content, with subsequent allegations of an on-site recording studio that produced tapes critical of the police and government. During the following year, the autorities filed a complaint against the Likiniano association (owner of DDT Banaketak ), accusing them of insults. Particularly, the song “Zipayos” by Anti-Ke depicted common police raids in the town, mentioning how people were forcefully removed from bars and beaten, even naming a specific police inspector. Benito had written the song allegedly after being beaten himself. The prosecutor initially sought a severe penalty against the legal representative of the association, demanding a six-year prison sentence. The charges were later dropped against the representative, focusing instead on the band's singer. In December 1995, a trial took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where Oscar Benito , was fined as a result of the case. By those dates, Anti-Ke had already split.
