Arkngthand
L-R in photo: Job, Nick, Ruud, Bart, Niels, Rim. Arkngthand is pronounced "Arkentand". The name Arkngthand comes from the Bethesda Softworks videogame "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind". It is a set of Dwemer (Dwarven) ruins. In 2008, guitarist Bart Latten took a three month trip to Nepal. Loek Tonnaer took Bart's place for live shows during this time. The band has gone through a lot of different musical directions over the years. Starting out as rough speed metal they evolved to a more heavy metal/folk sound for their first album "Merlin's Chamber". Their second album "Songs of Ice and Fire" is a mix between pure power metal songs, some progressive tracks and 1 or 2 true heavy metal songs. The musical direction the band is going towards anno 2010 is more of a melodic/prog rock direction and can hardly be called metal anymore. Changed name to River of Brakelights in November, 2010, and started playing alternative/progressive rock.
